Building Opportunities for Career Advancement
NYCETC and the New York City Workforce Funders Collaborative invite workforce practitioners to explore how data and employer insights can inform pathways into—and advancement within—middle-wage occupations. Using the NYC Middle-Wage Dashboard, participants will learn about the dashboard’s methodology and hear how workforce organizations are partnering with employers to build career pathways in human services and the green economy.

10:00–10:25 a.m. | NYC’s Middle-Wage Labor Market
The Burning Glass Institute will introduce the NYC Middle-Wage Dashboard, explain its methodology, and use the data to examine career opportunities and advancement within two industries: human services and the green economy.
10:25–10:45 a.m. | Q&A with The Burning Glass Institute
Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions about the dashboard, the occupational findings, and how the data can inform workforce program design and decision-making.
10:45–11:20 a.m. | Employer-Informed Advancement Pathways
Presentations from employer partnerships—including Project Renewal’s Social Services Employment Project and the Employer-led Energy Efficiency Coalition developed by NYCETC and The Green Launchpad—will illustrate how workforce organizations are engaging employers to create and strengthen advancement pathways.
11:20 a.m.–12:00 p.m. | Practitioner Exchange: Responding to a Changing Economy
Participants will discuss how labor-market data and employer insights can be applied within their organizations, with a focus on emerging opportunities, barriers to advancement, and the partnerships and program changes needed to help workers enter—and progress within—middle-wage careers.
Preparing for the Program
Please review the NYC Middle-Wage Dashboard before the program. Attendees are also encouraged to bring a charged laptop if they would like to follow along during the dashboard demonstration.
