Energy Competitiveness Unit Westminster report launch: a new diagnosis of electricity prices
The Energy Competitiveness Unit was launched in August 2026. Hosted by Project Tempo, the Unit’s aim is to reduce the cost of the energy system by £10 billion per year by 2030. We have published our first paper, on ETS reform, and will be publishing further papers in the coming months.
You are invited to join the Westminster launch of the Unit’s third paper on where costs are in the system, with a particular focus on the capacity and balancing markets. This paper will include new analysis on the overall cost of the system and where the government needs to conduct further investigation.
Speakers to include:
Bill Esterson MP, Chair of the DESNZ Select Committee.
Andrew O’Brien, Director of the Energy Competitiveness Unit.
Adam Bell, Partner - Energy at PF Global.
