About Event

Join Don McCasland, Kite & Wind Education Program Director, for a hands-on exploration of how weather is measured and understood at Blue Hill Observatory.

This session highlights the role of wind, instrumentation, and physical observation in capturing accurate weather data. Don will demonstrate how key instruments function, how they are maintained, and how environmental conditions—especially wind and exposure—shape the measurements we rely on every day.

From the summit, take in sweeping views of the Boston skyline—among the best vantage points in the region—and see how geography, elevation, and exposure directly influence the data collected at the Observatory.

Visitors are also welcome to explore the Observatory at their own pace—open from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM.
