About Event

Great ventures rarely start with a perfect solution. They start with understanding a problem properly.

In the second Startup School session, we’ll explore how to move beyond your first assumptions and investigate what is really happening.

We’ll look at the difference between problems and symptoms, how to dig into root causes, and how to identify the people affected by a problem. You’ll use practical tools including the Five Whys, stakeholder mapping and problem framing to explore an opportunity from different angles.

Whether you already have an idea or are still looking for one, this session will help you build a stronger foundation before jumping into solutions.

This session is led by Joanna Hamer, LSE Generate's Entrepreneurship Programme Manager.

Startup School is LSE Generate’s practical introduction to entrepreneurship. Across eight connected sessions, we’ll take you through the fundamentals of finding a problem worth solving, understanding customers, testing ideas, building traction, making the numbers work, funding growth and creating something that matters.

Each workshop builds on the last, but you're welcome to join at any point. Come along to the live online sessions and get involved, simply listen in, or catch up afterwards with the recording.

You do not need to have a startup or even a fully formed idea. Startup School is designed for anyone who wants to learn how entrepreneurs turn uncertainty into evidence and ideas into action.
