Bioengineering Pathways: Academia and Entrepreneurship
Join Nucleate UK as we explore career pathways in bioengineering, with a particular focus on translating research into startups and real-world impact. Aimed at PhD students and Early Career Researchers (ECRs).
The session will highlight how scientists can navigate trajectories that span academia, industry, and entrepreneurship.
Using the experiences of our speakers, we will showcase complementary career paths:
Transitioning across international biotech ecosystems and startup environments
Combining academic leadership with company co-founding
Bridging fundamental research with commercial application, particularly in sustainability and climate biotech
Whether you’re exploring commercialisation or developing new technologies, join us to see how Nucleate UK partners with ARIA to accelerate ambitious ideas and ventures!
Lucia Burdisso – Chief Scientific Officer at Deep Blue Biotech, leading development of a cyanobacterial synthetic biology platform for CO₂-based chemical production. She has work in startups across Argentina, the Bay Area, and is now based in Sheffield.
Afterwards, enjoy drinks and canapés as you continue conversations with peers and potential collaborators.
This event is part of Nucleate Identify, powered through our partnership with the Advanced Research and Invention Agency (ARIA).
