About Event

Thirty minutes of guided rest to close the working day. Online, lying down, no experience needed.

The working day rarely ends when it finishes. It follows people into the evening — the unanswered message, the conversation still being replayed, the sense of being half-on well past the point of being useful. Evenings get spent recovering from the day rather than actually being enjoyed.

This session is a full stop.

Yoga nidra is guided rest. You lie down, fully clothed, and a voice moves your attention slowly through the body and the breath. There is nothing to focus on, nothing to get right, and no way of doing it badly. Anyone who has concluded they can't meditate will find this is a different proposition entirely — meditation asks for effort, and this asks for none.

Thirty minutes on a Tuesday evening, and the rest of the evening tends to feel like it belongs to you again.

What the research suggests

Short guided rest practices have been studied reasonably well. Trials have found modest improvements in wellbeing, stress and sleep quality among people practising regularly, and researchers are careful to describe those effects as real but modest rather than transformative. It is not a treatment for anything. It is a reliable way to put the day down.

How it runs

  • 7:00 — arrive, settle, get comfortable

  • 7:05 — guided practice

  • 7:30 — finish, evening begins

Cameras off is entirely fine, and most people keep them off. Sessions are not recorded.

What's needed

  • Somewhere to lie down: a mat, a rug, a sofa or a bed all work

  • Something soft under the knees and the head

  • A blanket, since body temperature drops when you're still

  • Headphones if the house is busy

  • Phone on silent, notifications off

Who it's for

Anyone whose evenings disappear into the residue of the working day. No experience, no flexibility, and no yoga background needed. Falling asleep isn't a failure — it usually just means the day was a long one.

Joining

The meeting link is sent automatically on registration and again shortly before the session. Nothing to download beyond the usual.

A note

This is a rest practice, not treatment for any medical or psychological condition. Anyone managing a health condition is welcome, and should check with their GP or clinician first.
