About Event

Nonprofit leaders are often responsible for financial oversight without ever having formal training in finance. On August 18, Big Change Consulting will present the Financial Management Primer workshop, a free training designed for nonprofit leaders in the Cleveland area who need to understand the numbers without becoming accountants. Participants will learn how money is tracked, categorized, and reported, as well as how to use that information to ask better questions and make decisions that hold up.

Funded by the Greater Cleveland Funders Collaborative, this 3-hour in-person session will be held at the Mayfield Branch Library, located at 500 SOM Center Road, Mayfield Village, OH. No finance background is required. It is designed to help leaders build confidence in overseeing financial processes while building the financial literacy their organizations depend on.

Note: if you were with us for January's Budgeting Basics workshop, welcome back! This session covers different material than what we addressed in January, and will continue to strengthen your financial foundation.

What You'll Learn:

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Know basic nonprofit financial terms and concepts

  • Understand the key financial reports

  • Know two key questions to guide any financial decision

  • Understand the purpose of an audit, month-end close, and internal controls

  • Apply concepts to real nonprofit scenarios

Free Consulting Opportunities

In addition to participating in trainings, eligible organizations may access:

  • Brief, targeted consulting to address specific financial challenges

  • Deeper, hands-on support for organizations facing higher fiscal risk
