Defending Culture
Friday, May 30, 4pm ET

Silence is surrender… Resistance is presence.

In a time of escalating cultural repression, while arts organizations and cultural institutions are defunded and pressured into silence, Bunker Fridays returns with a bold call to action – Defending Culture – Friday May 30, 4pm ET. This timely live-streamed panel – hosted by Randall Packer from the Underground Studio Bunker in Washington, DC – brings together the following speakers:

Paul D. Miller aka DJ Spooky – Composer, remix artist, author, and creator of large-scale international multimedia works including the 2025 Venice Biennale for Architecture.

Michael Sakamoto – Interdisciplinary performance artist, educator and scholar, and director of programming at UMass Fine Arts Center.

Linda Klieger Stillman - Former Chair Emerita of the Kennedy Center Circles Board, Alfred Jarry scholar lecturing & publishing on tyrants in literature, theater, and the visual arts.

Barry Threw – Director of Gray Area, a media arts incubator and performance/gallery space in San Francisco.

As Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives are dismantled, and institutions face political threats—from the Kennedy Center to the Smithsonian to the Library of Congress—this episode of Bunker Fridays confronts the urgent question: How do we resist the erasure of truth, memory, and artistic freedom in this time of crisis?
