Ramen Ride
****DONATIONS OPTIONAL, HELMETS REQUIRED!****
This ride is completely FREE!!! Any donations you choose to make will go to supporting All Bodies on Bikes, and our mission to create and foster a size inclusive bike community.
THE BIG IDEA:
We will meet at Sheldon Field Park and Ride in Northampton at 10:45 AM. We'll ride 11 miles on mixed surfaces that include pavement, dirt, sand, grass, and loose gravel. Bring a bike with wide tires (45mm at least).
We will stop midway to make ramen together at Arcadia Wildlife Sanctuary in Easthampton. Please bring a package of your favorite ramen, a camping stove, some water to cook with, a pot to heat up said water, and your utensil of choice. We can share stoves and water but the more stoves the better! This will be a pack-in, pack-out ride, so please make sure you have space to carry back your trash. We will be providing a few fresh ingredients that you can add to your ramen, but feel free to bring other ingredients that you might like to share.
Please also bring water for drinking during the ride and any ride snacks you might need.
MEET UP LOCATION:
Sheldon Field Park and Ride located at 26 Old Ferry Road, Northampton, MA. There is plenty of free parking on site.
SCHEDULE:
Pre-ride talk starts at 11:00 AM (please be there and ready to roll by 10:45 AM!)
Ride out at 11:00 AM
Stop to cook and eat ramen together at around 12:00 PM
Roll out for the ride back at 12:45 PM
End back at Sheldon Field at 1:45 PM (this is an estimated time, this will depend on how long we linger with our Ramen and the pace of the group).
ROUTE:
We'll ride 11 miles on mixed surfaces that include pavement, dirt, sand, grass, and loose gravel. We will be riding off main roads for the majority of this ride, but we will be crossing streets while we are around the Northampton area. We will cross as a group when it is safe to do so. Most of the ride is on dirt, and gravel (both packed and chunky/very loose). There are a few short climbs and we gain a total of 200 feet over the course of the ride.
We will ride at an average pace of 5-7 mph, and won't leave anyone behind.
This is an out-and-back ride that ends where we started.
ACCESSIBILITY:
All are welcome to join us! We will stop throughout the ride for short breaks and at the halfway point of the route to cook and eat. This event will be outside. If you have any specific questions or accessibility needs, please reach out!
WHICH WHEELS TO BRING?
We'll ride 11 miles on mixed surfaces that include pavement, dirt, sand, grass, and loose gravel. A bike with wide tires (45mm at least) will work best.
