About Event

Across Asia, countries have set ambitious renewable energy targets. Yet the pace of grid integration consistently falls behind these ambitions. A key common reason is the persistence of centralized power system, built for a fossil fuel era and mostly dominated by state-owned utilities, that now face growing pressure to accommodate distributed variable renewables and new flexibility resources.

Many Asian face strikingly similar obstacles to RE integration: grid access barriers, prioritized fossil dispatch, lack of independent regulator, and non-transparent curtailment practices.

Exchanging shared problems across Asia can help strengthen the effectiveness of CSO advocacy by identifying root causes of grid bottlenecks under a common frame and by learning from proven false solutions to avoid repeating ineffective approaches.
