Celebrating the Legacies of Black Teachers in Montreal
Join us for a special evening dedicated to recovering, preserving, and honouring the stories of Black educational leadership of Montreal!
What we have planned:
Archival exhibit: come explore a physical exhibit displaying historical findings and archival pieces recovered by the project team.
Community memory circle: a facilitated intergenerational conversation featuring retired Black teachers, community leaders, former students, and audience members.
Panel discussion: a dialogue exploring what current generations can learn from past educators, how Black educators have shaped educational opportunities in Montreal, and the responsibilities institutions hold in preserving these stories.
Digital archive launch: a demonstration of our online archive and community educational resources.
Looking forward: learn about the next steps for this project, including expanding our archival collections, building school-based programming, and finding out how you can get involved.
Networking reception: stick around after the formal program for conversation with fellow attendees, partners, and researchers.
Registration is required.
