About Event

This one is for the hiring managers.

Not the job hunters.

Not the coaches.

The hiring managers.

The people who are living inside the problem that everyone else is talking around.

This is the first of what we are building into a monthly gathering — a standing invitation for hiring managers in New York to come together, get honest about what is actually happening in the market, and connect with people who can help.

No fee. No agenda. Just a room full of people who are dealing with the same problems and not enough time to talk about them.

The conversation nobody is having publicly

There is an enormous amount of content out there about how hard it is to find a job right now.

Nobody is talking about how hard it is to hire actually good forward deployed engineers and product managers

  • Your ATS is getting flooded.

  • The resumes look terrible.

  • Skills are outdated.

  • More than half the applicants are not even in the country.

  • You are sorting through an inbox full of candidates who applied to 400 jobs in the last 48 hours using an AI agent — and somehow you are still the one doing all the work.

You have already tried the AI screening tools.

And while they have saved you a few hours here and there, they have not made a dent in the actual problem — which is finding people who can genuinely do the job, fit the culture, and show up ready to build.

Meanwhile the expectations on your end have never been higher.

  • Investors want results.

  • The market wants product.

  • Customers want outcomes.

  • And the bar for what a forward deployed engineer or product manager needs to be capable of in 2026 is dramatically higher than it was two years ago.

  • The skills gap is real.

  • The timeline pressure is real.

  • And the number of candidates who actually meet the bar is — honestly — very small.

It is probably the worst time in recent memory to be a hiring manager.

And we want to say that out loud because most people will not.

What we are not going to do at this event

  • We are not going to stand up and give a presentation.

  • We are not going to charge you anything.

  • We are not going to make you sit through a panel before you can get a drink.

We are going to bring together a room of hiring managers — 80 percent hiring-side, a small percentage of exceptional talent we can introduce you to on request — and have the real conversation.

  • What are the actual challenges you are running into right now.

  • What does the talent gap look like from where you are sitting.

  • What would it mean to have a handful of genuinely qualified, culture-fit candidates in front of you within 24 hours instead of 24 weeks.

  • And if you just want to come out, grab a beer, and vent about your day — that is a completely valid reason to show up too.

Something else that people also don't talk about is, when people that are running forward-deployed engineering and product management teams need to look for a job themselves, they often cannot simply just apply to jobs on job boards like regular people because your salary requirements are much higher.

We also aim to have this event serve as a network for possibly your next job when it's time to jump ship.

What we are building toward

TechCareers.io has been operating in New York for nearly a decade. We have been placing product managers and forward deployed engineers into roles at companies most candidates have never heard of — and watching those companies become the ones everyone wants to work at two years later.

We can move fast — in some cases putting a qualified candidate profile in front of a hiring team within an hour of a conversation.

But more than the recruiting infrastructure, we believe something simpler.

  • New York is the greatest city in the world.

  • It is now the undisputed tech talent hub of the country. We are all neighbors.

  • We are all colleagues working inside the same industry trying to solve the same problems. And we should be in the same room more often.

This is the first monthly event. We are in it for the long haul. Come to the first one and help us build what this becomes.
