Когда в январе 2023 года сотни тысяч израильтян:ок вышли на улицы против судебной реформы, главным двигателем протестных акций было желание вернуться к “прежнему Израилю”, порядку и демократии. Небольшая группа активисто:к-мизрахи тогда поставила вопрос: нет ли здесь идеализации “старого” Израиля? Вообще включала ли эта демократия все идентичности и группы? Чувствовали ли себя мизрахи, палестин:ки, эфиопские еврей:ки и выходцы из бывшего СССР ее частью?
Из этих сомнений и обсуждений в феврале 2023 года родился Гражданский коллектив мизрахи (Mizrahi Civic Collective). Одна из его основатель:ниц — адвокатка по правам человека Нетта Амар-Шифф. Именно она составила и подала в БАГАЦ так называемую “петицию мизрахи”, в которой утверждалось, что Закон о национальном государстве является дискриминирующим не только по отношению к палестин:кам, но и к евре:йкам из мусульманских и арабских стран, чьи история, культура и идентичности фактически остаются за рамками предложенного этим законом представления о еврейском государстве.
Нетта проведет нас через историю борьбы мизрахи: от ее ранних этапов до создания Коллектива и расскажет о разработанном им “видении надежды”. Нам кажется, что для русскоязычной аудитории это редкая возможность посмотреть на израильскую политику не по оси “правые-левые”, а по оси “центр-периферия”.
In January 2023, when hundreds of thousands of Israelis took to the streets to protest against judicial reform, the main driving force behind the demonstrations was the desire to return to the 'old Israel' – to order and democracy. However, a small group of Mizrahi activists questioned whether there was an idealisation of the ‘old’ Israel at play. Did this democracy actually encompass all identities and groups? Did Mizrahim, Palestinians, Ethiopian Jews, and immigrants from the former USSR feel included?
It was out of these doubts and discussions that the Mizrahi Civic Collective was founded in February 2023. One of its founders is the human rights lawyer Netta Amar-Schiff. She drafted and submitted the so-called 'Mizrahi petition' to the High Court of Justice, arguing that the Nation-State Law discriminates not only against Palestinians, but also against Jewish people from Muslim and Arab countries. These people's histories, cultures and identities effectively fall outside the framework of the law's concept of a Jewish state.
Netta will guide us through the history of the Mizrahi struggle, from its early stages to the formation of the Collective. She will also discuss the 'vision of hope' that the Collective has developed. We believe that, for a Russian-speaking audience, this is a rare opportunity to view Israeli politics not along the 'right–left' axis, but along the 'centre–periphery' axis.
