​Find your People: An Unconference for Unconventional careers

There are a thousand versions of fractional, interim or portfolio careers and most of them live inside one person's head. The operator who cracked pricing, the one with a referral engine that actually works, the one who figured out how to run a portfolio without burning out in year two. Some lessons are in playbooks. Others come out over coffee.

That's the real transfer mechanism, and it only ever reaches as far as your existing network.

So we're putting everyone in one room for a day.

HOW IT WORKS

You're not being talked at. You pitch what you want to talk about in thirty seconds, the room votes, and the schedule builds itself. The people who've done it lead the sessions. If your question makes the wall, it gets answered.

Speed networking opens the day, because the fractional life attracts a lot of introverts and everyone needs permission to start talking.

The day is structured around eight stages of a portfolio career, and the question each one answers.

1. Possibility: what could my working life look like?
2. Position: what am I known for?
3. Package: what can someone buy from me?
4. Prove: why should anyone trust me?
5. Prospect: where will my work come from?
6. Place: how do I turn opportunities into paid work?
7. Perform: how do I deliver brilliantly without recreating a job?
8. Prosper: how do I make this sustainable and grow it?

WHO'S BEHIND MEET YOUR PEOPLE?

Meet Your People is the brainchild of Penelope Barr, Portfolio Careerpreneur, and Zac King, Fractional Executive, two people who've built their careers around doing work differently. Between them, they've navigated executive careers, fractional work, portfolio careers, consulting and the sometimes messy business of creating a working life on your own terms.

They're bringing together the people they wish they'd had around them when they were figuring it out, to share what works, what doesn't and the hard-won lessons behind the frameworks.
