Writing for Wellness: Letters to Loved Ones
Join us on Saturday, August 22 to craft handwritten letters to our loved ones. After a relaxed writing session, we’ll send off our letters together at the post office downstairs. Cards, crafting materials, and stamps provided. 💌
When was the last time you sent or received a handwritten letter?
While the practice of sending handwritten letters may have dwindled over the years, the wellness benefits of the practice remain timeless. Writing letters of love and/or gratitude significantly boosts both physical and mental health.
Research shows this practice reduces stress, lowers cholesterol, and strengthens the immune system. Receiving these heartfelt messages also provides deep therapeutic value by affirming human connection, reducing feelings of isolation, and generating positive emotional responses.
By writing handwritten letters to loved ones, we are tending to both our own wellness and the wellness of our community.
What You’ll Experience:
Warm introductions and a welcoming environment
Tea and groovy music
An opportunity to write letters to loved ones
Optional letter templates for guidance
A community setting providing encouragement and a system of accountability (sometimes, we just need to do the activity alongside others in order to get it done!)
What to Bring:
Addresses of your letter recipients. If you don’t have their addresses already, try to ask for them before the workshop! This information will not be collected; it is for your use only.
A sweater or layers in case you need extra warmth
