About Event

Stress management is often discussed in terms of relaxation. Intermittent hypoxic–hyperoxic training (IHHT) takes a different approach: it applies brief, controlled changes in oxygen availability to challenge the body’s adaptive responses. Heart rate variability (HRV) offers a practical way to observe how the autonomic nervous system responds during a training programme.

In this lecture, we will explain the physiological rationale for IHHT, discuss the current evidence on autonomic function, and show how HRV can be used alongside symptoms, sleep, and recovery to guide individual monitoring and to evaluate changes in heart rate fluctuation and their relation to improved resilience and health.

The aim is to give clinicians and therapists a clear framework for evaluating IHHT as a potential component of a broader stress management strategy.

Your expert: Dr. med. Stephan Bortfeldt — physician and specialist in functional medicine, Hannover, with extensive hands-on experience applying intermittent hypoxia training in respiratory care.

Format: ~40 min talk · 20 min open Q&A — bring your questions, that's what the Circle is for.

Free · Live · English · Recording available to registrants afterwards

The TUR Expert Circle is hosted by TUR — engineering devices for physical medicine since 1904. Circle sessions are free of product presentations.
