Timetable

• 8:15 am - arrival at HMP Isis
• 8:15 am - 12:30 pm - itinerary below
• 12:30 pm - walk starts
• 2:30 pm - lunch stop - Liberty Kitchen’s pop up (Donation requested)
• 5:30 pm - glass of fizz or cup of tea at the Old Bailey, Warwick Square entrance, off Warwick Lane
• 6:30 pm - end

Public transport to HMP Isis

Elizabeth line to Woolwich  

Then: Abbeywood bus 244 (12 minutes) or 472 (7 minutes) to Princess Alice; or Bexleyheath bus (8 minutes) to Nathan Way/Eastern Way

Details of the walk

This walk will be led by HHJ. Richard Marks K.C. Common Serjeant of London Accompanying walkers The Chair of The Sheriffs’ & Recorder’s Fund, Lady Hilary Russell tbc, The Sheriffs of London and their consorts, the Governor, staff members and prison leavers of Isis. 

Crossing over Western Way, taking the little roads onto Cycleway 14 which runs along the Thames, after just under a mile crossing the Thames using the Woolwich Foot Tunnel, taking Store  Road into Factory Road past London City Airport and then North Woolwich Road, past Pontoon Dock, Silvertown and the Excel Centre, into Dock Road, past the Docklands, over path running  alongside Lower Lea Crossing, past Bow Creek Ecology Park on the right and Trinity Buoy Wharf,  the Thames and beyond that North Greenwich on the left, into Blackwall Way, past East India on the right, crossing Aspen Way onto path north of Naval Row, over Blackwall Tunnel Arniston Way by Poplar High St Refreshment Stop - Liberty Kitchen pop up, continue along Poplar High St into Pennyfields one West India Dock Road onto Cycle  Superhighway Three, then into Narrow St, over Limehouse Link, continuing along Narrow St with the Thames on left, (alternate route that we took was to take Cycle Superhighway Three just north of Cabel St through Whitechapel and past Jack the Ripper Museum to Tower Hill) onto The Highway, over Rotherhithe Tunnel, through King Edward Memorial Park, back onto the Highway, past Shadwell Basin on left, through St George’s gardens and Swedenborg Gardens, along East Smithfield past the Tower of London into Tower Hill, Lower Thames St, Upper Thames St, Castle Baynard St, up to St Paul’s, St Paul’s churchyard right into Ave Maria Lane into Warwick Lane, left into Warwick Square.

Itinerary in prison

8:15 am arrival and check-in
8:30 am - 11:30 am attending a Reverse Mentoring session where young men in the prison and those that have experienced prison share their stories with prison officers.
11:30 am - 12:30 pm refreshments

What to wear and what to bring

PHOTOGRAPHIC ID (driver's licence or passport)

Book donations for the prison library.  

This walk is on London pavements, wear comfortable trainers and clothes and carry as little else as possible. 

No phones or electronics are allowed in the prison. Belongings in lockers or Shrieval cab.
