Lessons from the Kintsugi Journey: An HTN Community Conversation with Grace Chang
Grace Chang spent ~8 years building Kintsugi, a pioneer in voice biomarker AI technology for behvaioral health. The technology could detect signs of depression and anxiety from about 20 seconds of free-form speech, was validated in peer-reviewed research, and deployed with payers and health systems. Earlier this year, she made the hard call to wind the company down, and rather than let the work disappear, she open-sourced Kintsugi's models, methodologies, and research for the field to build on.
In conversation with Kevin, Grace will share the lessons from the journey, thoughts on current state of behavioral health tech, future prospects for voice biomarkers, and ways the regulatory regime might improve to better adapt to innovative technologies.
