In the wake of personal loss, an unexpected sisterhood unites an ambitious New York healthcare worker with a spirited girl from a nomadic tribe in India.
Where the Light Enters You is a poignant exploration of grief and the profound impact of losing a parent. Through the parallel journeys of two female protagonists, the film examines the systemic barriers that hinder girls’ education and women’s health. At its core, it is a tribute to the strength of female friendship and a powerful call for change.

Filmmakers & Moderator
Matt Alesevich – Director & Producer
A writer and photojournalist, Matt has lent his voice to Google, Uber, Vice, and Al Jazeera. Since 2013, he has traveled regularly to rural India on medical expeditions, experiences that deeply inform Where the Light Enters You. He brings a storyteller’s lens to themes of loss, resilience, and cross-cultural connection.
Hemal Trivedi – Director & Producer
An award-winning filmmaker with over two decades of experience, Hemal’s work has earned an Oscar, three Emmys, and a Peabody Award, alongside nominations from the Independent Spirit Awards and Cinema Eye Honors. Known for her powerful documentaries on social justice and human rights, she co-directs Where the Light Enters You with a vision of amplifying underrepresented voices and inspiring systemic change.
Diane Quon – Moderator
An Academy Award–nominated producer who began her career as a marketing executive at Paramount Pictures and NBC before returning to her hometown of Chicago. Her credits include the Oscar- and Emmy-nominated, Peabody Award–winning Minding the Gap (Hulu, POV); Emmy-nominated Finding Yingying (MTVDocs) and Wuhan Wuhan (POV); Oscar-shortlisted Bad Axe (IFC Films); Breaking the News (Indie Lens); AKA Mr. Chow (HBO); and The Rose: Come Back to Me (Tribeca 2025). She is currently producing The Untitled Sam Project and My Family’s Slave, and developing multiple narrative features. Ms. Quon is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Producers Guild of America.

Rod is Co-Founder of InVision Communications, a corporate communications firm, and the Founder of The Giving Exchange, a nonprofit organization. He serves on several non-profit boards and is actively involved in mentoring young entrepreneurial talent.
