Joyce's hot take 🔥:
I didn't want to become "that person" on LinkedIn…
I barely used LinkedIn before I launched my coaching practice. One year in, 45% of my client discovery calls have come from LinkedIn, and 25% of those have converted into clients.
If your potential clients are on LinkedIn and you have a LinkedIn network, you owe it to yourself to learn how to use the tool - and then decide how you want to use it in your coaching business.
I'll walk through the 3 fears that I faced on my journey - and the mindset and tactical shifts that helped.
1. "Will I be cringe?"
There's an almost universal fear of being self-promoting on LinkedIn. The good news is you're in charge of how you want to show up - and, as a coach, you already know how to show up with presence.
Shifting your LinkedIn approach from a self-promoting to a service-based mindset allows you to tap into your existing gifts as a coach - so the person you are online is the same person you are in real life.
2. "I don't have anything new to share"
AI has made knowledge cheap to access - but what can't be AI-generated are your lived stories. The power is less in the idea and more about the perspective that you bring to it.
Rather than grasping for ground-breaking frameworks, start by looking within for the unique experiences that have shaped your perspective as a coach on the topics that your ideal clients care about.
3. "I don't even know where to start"
LinkedIn can be overwhelming, especially if you're coming to it as a beginner. The good news is that LinkedIn lends itself to very fast feedback loops - you usually know within a few hours how your content is resonating.
Doing small experiments frees you from the pressure to get it right immediately. Start with a few variables, like content topics and cadence, and pay attention to what happens.
---
You may still decide LinkedIn isn't for you — but that should be a conscious choice, not something you're avoiding. So let's go climb cringe mountain together and find out.
