She Talks Money: Personal Finance & Building Wealth
Event description:
If you've ever felt embarrassed asking questions about money, personal finances and investing because you felt like you should "know this already by now", then you are not alone. Many women feel the same way!
BUT you are never behind, never too late and never too “inexperienced” to start.
Having knowledge and control over your finances gives you power, and that is why we are collaborating with Women Disrupting Tech and Equals on our $he Talks Money event to create a space where women can ask the "basic" questions about investing and wealth-building. Without judgment and without jargon.
$he Talks Money is a workshop and networking event designed to break down the barriers that keep us from financial confidence. We put this event together with a few things in mind:
To help you build confidence around money.
To learn from each other in a judgement-free space because knowledge is power.
To bring you experts who have been in your shoes and can give you tangible actions for you to walk away from the event with.
To help you associate money with empowerment rather than shame.
Who will be there:
Heidi Custers - Global Strategy & Transformation Director at Backbase: spent more than 20 years working with banks and financial institutions across Africa and Europe, so she knows exactly how they work behind the scenes and why they can feel confusing, intimidating, or just unnecessarily complicated as a customer. Today she’s a Global Strategy and Transformation Director at Backbase and previously led digital transformation work at Deloitte, helping banks modernise how they serve people.
Juliette Petit - Trading Associate at DEGIRO: After starting her career in Luxury and Fashion, Juliette worked with prestigious brands managing client relations, community engagement and brand strategy across Europe. Her curiosity about financial freedom began with buying her first property in Amsterdam, which sparked a deeper interest in investing, risk and diversification. Along the way, she realized that finance doesn’t have to be complicated or intimidating, it simply requires interest and taking the first step.
Tessa de Flines - Co-Founder at AtVenture Platform, Fractional COO and Angel Investor: Tessa de Flines is co-founder of AtVenture Platform, which has the mission to activate diverse angel investors to invest in diverse founders through education, community, and capital. She combines over 18 years of corporate experience at GE and ABN AMRO with 8 years as an entrepreneur and Fractional COO, helping startups bring structure, strategy, and focus to their growth. Tessa is also Founding Partner of Masters of Scale and an active angel investor through AtVenture Platform and Great Stuff Ventures. Passionate about closing the funding gap, she mentors, invests, and speaks to inspire more people (especially women) to step into angel investing.
Laura Lee - Inclusion and Diversity Manager: Laura Lee is a gender equity advocate with nearly two decades of experience navigating the complex financial hubs of London and Amsterdam. Having spent her career in the heart of banking and finance—most recently as HR leader and Inclusion & Diversity manager—Laura has an insider’s view of the systemic factors that shape wealth.
