About Event

Back-to-school season has every dad thinking about how to support his kids. But too often, dads end up in the back seat. We want to help, and we’re not sure what role to play, how to show up, who to contact, or even what success looks like.

Dadvocacy is built to change that. Timed ahead of parent-teacher conferences, the evening opens with a conversation among Mohan Sivaloganathan, Dads for All co-founder and former CEO of Our Turn, a national movement for student engagement; Melanie Meren, Fairfax County School Board member; and Neil Prakash, PTA president at Cunningham Park Elementary. Together they bring the perspectives of an education systems leader, an elected official, and a PTA president, sharing their experiences, what works, and practical tips for dads at any stage of involvement.

Then it’s your turn. We’ll break into small groups where dads talk openly and shape their own action plans, with our panelists on hand to help. This is a private space to be raw, trade ideas, and leave with a clear next step, alongside a community of dads who’ve got your back.

Dads for All DMV has shown up for our schools before, from advocating for crossing guard funding to working with the district on AI and digital safety policy. Dadvocacy brings that energy to the most local level there is: your own kid’s classroom.
