About Event

Come talk trash with WATS (Waste Analytics Software). Specifically, let’s dig into the value of better waste data!

Waste is an unmetered utility: unlike energy and water, waste is not measured with a meter and waste data can come from many sources. This presents a clear challenge: how do you manage and optimize a utility with no data? How can you take action and drive impact in a waste program without a sense of where the program stands today?

This late-afternoon NYCW event will focus on turning messy, fragmented waste information into usable operational and business insight. We’ll have a dynamic presentation led by WATS co-founders Laura Rosenshine and Meredith Danberg Ficarelli:

  • How WATS is making waste a metered utility by managing waste data with dedicated tools and automation

  • A “lightning round” of anonymized real-life client challenges

  • Discussion

Lightning round

We’ll walk through real-life (anonymized) client challenges. Each example will be short, specific, and tied back to business value: what the client challenge was, how we tackled the challenge, why it mattered, and what kind of decision or opportunity the data helped them achieve.

The lightning round will cover examples such as:

  • Facilitating usage-based billing concepts to incentivize waste diversion using a pay-as-you-throw model

  • Prorating waste streams using better source data to support RFP decision making

  • Automated tenant- and site-level reporting to reduce the back-and-forth with stakeholders

  • Normalized budgeting and projected waste cost management to give confidence in waste expenses

  • Improving shared visibility and collaboration around client data to reduce redundancy and improve service delivery

  • Using customized Waste Profiles based on business type to support optimization of waste operations across a large portfolio

Waste data trash talk

The lightning round will be followed by a group discussion, and light refreshments will be served.

This event will be practical, engaging, and commercially relevant - a lively discussion about how waste data can be translated into clear decisions and next steps.
