WMC Learn To Rappel For Canyoneering
This event is geared towards those who are new to Canyoneering.
Topics to be covered:
1) How to get on rappel, including safety tether.
2) Use of friction and which frictions you can add while on rappel.
3) Proper stance belaying and practice belaying.
4) Proper rappelling technique.
5) Verbal commands “On Belay, Belay On, Rappelling, Rappelling On”
6) Why we use soft starts at times and how to do it.
7) Difference between static and dynamic ropes
8) Practice
Required gear:
Helmet
Harness (a climbing harness is acceptable)
Canyoneering Rappelling device (no ATC’s)
Safety lanyard
Please coordinate with the organizers if you need to borrow any equipment.
Group size is limited to 10.
