About Event

Please join us at our initial Bescy Briefings event on October 21st, as we'll dive into recent efforts to "see the systems" in which we work - and to drive behavioral change within them.

As a field, we've moved beyond an I-Frame / S-Frame (Individual versus Structural) debate and we now have practical tools that help behavioral scientists drive change across multiple levels.  In this session, Stephen and Ale will provide a closer look at these new tools, and share their perspective on when they are most useful.

  • They'll start by looking at Social Norms, and how the work has moved from narrow interventions (influencing individuals) to a broader systems-level approach to transforming norms.

  • They will examine current approaches in use - from UCL's Behavioural Mapping to Agent Based Modeling - and take a critical look at when these tools are worthwhile (and when traditional methods may be more helpful).

Our Presenters

Dr. Stephen Wendell is the co-founder and CEO at sistemaFutura, an AI-native company automating the generation of simulation models of human systems for social and business impact.  He was previously a Vice President at the Busara Center for Behavioral Economics and he founded and led the behavioral science teams at Morningstar and HelloWallet, in addition to founding Bescy!

Alexandra (Ale) De Filippo has worked for 15+ years with governments, multilaterals, and innovation teams globally to apply behavioral science, human-centered design, technology, and iterative testing to complex social challenges — from reducing violence against women and children to improving governance and public service delivery in challenging settings.  Prior to her current role as co-founder of SistemaFutura, she has held positions at Poda Innovation Space and the Behavioural Insights Team (BIT).

*While all are welcome to join this free event, Bescy Briefings are explicitly designed for Behavioral Science practitioners with several years of experience. Thus, the presentations and discussion will assume incoming knowledge/familiarity with the field of Behavioral Science, if not necessarily this specific topic.
