Mountain Climb + Fondue
The Tech Week's peak networking event
Hike into Desierto de los Leones National Park at sunrise, up to a quiet summit. There, we'll make and share a cauldron of traditional fondue. Expect iconic volcano views and genuine conversations (and cheese).
Who it’s for: investors, founders, and trailblazers.
Capacity: 12 spots (curated for candid, high-signal connections).
About the hike
https://www.alltrails.com/trail/mexico/state-of-mexico-4/pluma-amarilla-cruz-blanca-san-miguel
It is a relatively demanding hike, as it is long (8.6 miles / 13.8 km round trip), has a large elevation gain (3100ft / 950m), and is high-altitude (the summit lies at 12,300ft / 3,750m). Please self-assess and join if it sounds fun.
Logistics
Meet at the Ángel de la Independencia (outside the Sheraton María Isabel) at 5:00AM. We'll depart at 5:05 to catch the sunrise and be back before 1:00PM.
BAN CARBON provides transportation, water (2L/person), trail snacks (nuts and prunes), and fondue.
Safety and weather
This is a popular destination for Mexico City hikers; standard hiking risks apply. If the forecast calls for severe rain or thunderstorms, we'll reschedule.
What to bring
Any sports shoes with good grip work fine (avoid sandals)
Pants or shorts
Two warm layers (e.g. sweater + shell) for the summit
A day pack for water, snacks, and layers
