โ๐ Hoops for Hope: Charity Basketball Tournament
โ๐ฃ Playing Together. Changing Lives.
โJoin us for an inspiring evening of basketball, community, and giving back.
โHoops for Hope is a charity basketball tournament presented by Society for Orphaned Armenian Relief Vancouver (SOAR Vancouver) in collaboration with Armenian Friends in Van, with the venue generously sponsored by the Armenian Cultural Association of British Columbia (ACA of BC).
โHoops for Hope is more than a basketball tournament. It's an opportunity to make a meaningful difference. This year's fundraiser will support the refurbishment of the sports hall at Nubarashen Boarding School No. 11 in Armenia, helping children with intellectual disabilities enjoy a safer, better-equipped environment to play, exercise, and thrive.

โAbout the Organizers
โSOAR Vancouver is the Vancouver Chapter of the Society for Orphaned Armenian Relief, a global nonprofit supporting orphaned and vulnerable children in Armenia through humanitarian, educational, medical, therapeutic, and development programs.
Armenian Friends in Van is an independent community group established in 2022 that brings together Armenian young professionals across the Greater Vancouver area. Focused on fostering friendships, bridging divisions, and building a strong sense of community, the group hosts a number of social events throughout the year.
โBeyond its friendship-building mission, Armenian Friends in Van is actively engaged in humanitarian advocacy and fundraising initiatives supporting Armenian causes. The group took a leadership role in humanitarian based advocacy work in 2023 through various fundraisers and awareness-raising campaigns to support Armenian refugees from Artsakh. The groupโs annual Yard Sale is another cornerstone fundraising event, which raises funds every spring for a womenโs cause in Armenia. Organizations that have been supported by Armenia Friendsโ fundraisers to date include SOAR, Womenโs Support Centre, Agate Rights Defense Center for Women With Disabilities, Hayk For Our Heroes, Traveling Doctors of Armenia, Hrazdan Womenโs Resource Centre, and the Armenia Tree Project.

โThis event marks another meaningful collaboration between SOAR Vancouver and Armenian Friends in Van, following a successful Christmas fundraiser that raised more than $1,400 in support of children in Armenia.
โWe are also grateful to the Armenian Cultural Association of British Columbia for sponsoring the venue and helping make this event possible.
โCome play, cheer, connect, and help us create better opportunities for children through sport.
