About Event

Sponsored by the AV Foundation
LX alumni, spouses, and friends are welcome

What if generosity wasn’t something we outsourced but something we practiced together? The LX ‘Give Together’ is an invitation into a different way of engaging generosity.

Inspired by the principles of collective giving and relational philanthropy rooted in the spirit and vision of the AV Foundation, this evening brings people together around a shared conviction: generosity is most powerful when it is relational, discerning, and practiced in community.

What This Evening Is

On this night, the LX community gathers to listen to the stories of six nonprofit partners doing meaningful work in close proximity to real human need.

Each organization is invited to share:

  • A clear, human story — not a pitch

  • The people they serve and the problem they are addressing

  • What additional generosity would make possible over the next year

These stories are shared not to compete for attention, but to invite understanding. The posture of the evening is proximity — drawing the community closer to the real work happening in and around us.

How Generosity Is Practiced

The Evening of Impact is intentionally ordered so generosity flows from understanding, not impulse.

  1. We Listen First: Participants hear all six nonprofit stories in full, without giving prompts, pledge cards, or interruptions. This shared listening grounds the room in discernment and dignity.

  2. A Shared Commitment to Participate: Participation in the event includes a minimum contribution of $500 per person. This shared floor is not a ticket price or fundraising tactic. It is a way of signaling that everyone in the room carries responsibility for how generosity is expressed within the community.

  3. Guaranteed Dignity for Our Nonprofit Partners: Before any individual gifts are allocated, the AV Foundation provides a guaranteed grant of $10,000 to each presenting organization. This baseline support ensures that every partner is honored and resourced, regardless of how the evening unfolds. It removes competitive pressure and reinforces that this gathering is not about winners and losers, but about shared responsibility and collective care.

  4. Individual Allocation of Gifts: After listening and making the shared commitment, participants allocate their personal gift across the six organizations in whatever proportions reflect their discernment. There is no public voting, ranking, or comparison. Allocation itself is the act of participation. In this way, generosity remains both personal and communal — shaped by conviction, but held within a shared structure.

  5. Optional Matching by Participants: Some participants may feel called to further amplify the work of a particular organization. For those who wish, the evening includes an opportunity to offer optional matching funds for one of the presenting partners.

These matches:

  1. Are entirely voluntary

  2. Apply only to additional community gifts

  3. Are offered quietly, without spotlight or pressure

  4. Matching serves as a way to strengthen momentum and multiply impact, while preserving the dignity and tone of the evening.

Closing with Transparency and Gratitude: At the conclusion of the evening, the community pauses to acknowledge what generosity has made possible together. Total funds raised are shared openly (including individual contributions, participant matches, and the AV Foundation’s guaranteed support).
