Austin Science Network presents “ Science, Technology and Art of Brewing” with Jarle Lillemoen, PhD

FUTO: 2410 San Antonio St, Austin, TX 78705

Jarle Lillemoen, Brewmaster at

Wild Bunch Brewing, will present on the science, technology, and art of brewing. After obtaining a PhD in Biochemistry at UT Austin and becoming a professor, Jarle founded Wild Bunch Brewing. Combining a deep theoretical understanding of how matter and energy works with a practical approach to how to make artisanal brews, Jarle has a knack for delighting learners and drinkers alike. Brewing is an ancient practice that was widely valued but nonetheless mysterious until the modern era of physics, chemistry and biology. Dubbed “Jarle the Giant Scientist” due to his 6’7 stature, this Norwegian-native turned Texas businessman is your expert guide to how simple water, yeast and temperature combine to make some of Homo Sapiens’ favorite things. Lunch at 1PM, Q&A afterwards.
