Open Iftar at Socialoftas
Open Iftar at Socialoftas
Last year, our Open Iftar turned into something truly beautiful. Strangers sitting side by side, sharing food, stories, and the quiet moment of breaking the fast together.
This year, we open the doors again.
You’re warmly invited to join our Open Iftar gatherings on Sunday, March 1st, 8th, and 15th evenings dedicated not just to eating, but to community, generosity, and the spirit of Ramadan.
We gather at 6:00 PM, before sunset, to set the table together and settle into the space.
This is not a restaurant dinner.
It’s not an event to consume.
It’s something we build together.
How the evening unfolds
Our Open Iftar is a shared table, collective, generous, intentional. Guests will bring a warm dish to contribute (halal or vegetarian). A few generous restaurants will also participate and add to the table.
As sunset approaches, we will break the fast together in a quiet, simple moment.
Throughout the evening, a few guests may share short personal reflections, a Ramadan memory, a migration story, a meal that shaped them, or a moment they felt welcomed.
Nothing formal. Nothing pressured. Just space for food, listening, and connection.
We’re also grateful that a few small local food makers and independent cooks are generously joining us and contributing to the evening (Merienda - Filipiniečių Užkandžiai/ Filipino snacks, Max Dorc Kitchen, Tamima)
