βπΊοΈ The Route & Itinerary
βOur walk follows the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail during the beautiful golden hour. The entire path is flat, fully paved with concrete or wooden boardwalks, and is completely dog and stroller-friendly.
βTotal Distance: ~1.8 miles
βEstimated Time: 45β60 minutes at a comfortable, conversational pace.
βMilestone 1: The Wharf Promenade (0.5 miles)
βWe will line up at 7th Street Park at 5:30 PM and head East, keeping the water on our right side. Our path takes us along the wide wooden boardwalks, past the marina slips, floating piers, and outdoor fire pits as the evening atmosphere picks up.
βMilestone 2: The Greenleaf Point Transition (0.4 miles)
βWhere the commercial Wharf area ends, the path wraps around Waterfront Park. We will follow the trail markings along P St SW and 4th St SW to connect directly onto the dedicated Anacostia Riverwalk Trail, cutting past the scenic tip of Fort McNair.
βMilestone 3: Nationals Park Waterfront (0.5 miles)
βThe trail opens back up directly along the river right behind Nationals Park. This stretch is incredibly wide, completely car-free, and offers wide-open, sweeping sunset views of the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge.
βMilestone 4: The Finish Line at Yards Park (0.4 miles)
βWe will cross over the iconic, modern white pedestrian bridge to enter Yards Park. This beautiful waterfront space features dancing fountains and grassy hills, making it the perfect spot to wind down after the workday.
βπΉ The Finish Line & Post-Work Social
βYou made it! We will wrap up our walk at Yards Park at 6:30 PM. Feel free to stick around, catch up with fellow members, and celebrate making it to the middle of the week at one of these excellent local spots right at our finish line:
βFor Casual Drinks & Seafood: The Salt Line (featuring a massive waterfront outdoor patio).
βFor Craft Beers & Bites: Bluejacket (a historic, microbrewery located just one block off the water).
βFor Sweets & Ice Cream: Ice Cream Jubilee or Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams (both right next to Yards Park).
βπ Heading Home
βWhen you are ready to head out, the Navy Yard-Ballpark Metro Station (Green Line) is just a quick, 3-block walk straight up New Jersey Ave SE from the park.
