Every breath counts: making the right diagnosis at the right time
While lung health briefly dominated the global health agenda during the COVID-19 pandemic, it has slowly faded from focus, leaving millions of patients with chronic respiratory diseases (CRDs) under prioritized – until now. One year after the passing of the Lung Health Resolution, this exciting session will explore the urgent need to improve accurate and timely diagnosis of CRDs to enable better outcomes for patients and reduce the huge burden on health systems. Bringing together voices from academia, governments and industry, this event will explore key diagnostic challenges, including the impacts of high rates of misdiagnosis and treatment delay, as well as outline useful tools and actionable insights for making the right diagnosis at the right time.
This session on the sidelines of the World Health Assembly in Geneva aims to highlight the serious and undervalued burden that CRDs place on health systems and the critical role of accurate and timely diagnosis, exploring the barriers using pulmonary fibrosis (PF) as a case study. The panel will also outline how countries and member states can take action on the recommendations made in the lung health resolution to improve diagnosis of CRDs, and how civil society and industry can be useful partners in this.
Speakers to be announced soon
