Come experience the world’s first globally successful digital art workstation - the legendary $100,000 Quantel Paintbox, with owner and OG 80s digital artist Adrian Wilson. Use the almost mythical machine David Hockney created his first digital art on in 1985 and that Keith Haring flew to Rome just to use in 1989. Time To Be Happy Gallery, Thursday and Friday 3-4th September, Noon-5pm
Artist Bio Adrian Wilson is considered the first digital artist to specialize in what we now call ‘photoshop’ but on the Quantel Paintbox in 1984, six years before Photoshop 1.0 was launched. He has restored several to working order and has built up the world’s largest Paintbox Art Archive, creating international talks, demonstrations, films, books and exhibits at the Tate Modern, Computer Arts Society, Sidney Nolan Trust, Saatchi Gallery, Computer History Museum etc. As well as creating his own work, he is currently working on restoring Keith Haring’s unseen Paintbox Art and for a documentary on Richard Bernstein.
