About The Climate Party

The Climate Party® is building a Scenius - collective genius - for Climate solutions in India.

Climate Parties are a series of immersive learning & ecosystem building events curated to enable interdisciplinary solutionists, either already working in or seriously considering a transition to the Climate space, to discover more of their kind across domains and cross-pollinate ideas for collaborative action.

About the event

Every meal we eat carries a climate story - most of us just aren’t reading it yet.

As extreme natural events become frequent & weather becomes unpredictable, food systems are under unprecedented pressure to adapt. These stresses don’t just stay on the farm, they travel - from soil to supply chains, from producers to consumers, from local fields to global markets. This actively shapes what gets grown, financed for distribution and consumed.

In partnership with Sustaina (for the third time!), we’re going deep on the visible effects of climate change using visual art and storytelling through the lens of food stock & agriculture from across India with embodied cultures, labour systems & investment decisions.

This is where visual art, storytelling and finance meet, seamlessly beyond data & dashboards.

Expect:

I. Guided walkthrough of interactive installations on

  1. The changing forest ecologies of Gir region in Gujarat due to Mango monoculture and tourism. With storytelling that moves from king of the jungle, Lion, to the king of fruits, Mangoes, Mrugen Rathod – a visual artist & visiting faculty at the Nirma University and Anant National University, Ahmedabad - will transport us to the lived realities of Gir;

  2. Interdependence in nature through the life of the apricot tree - Ladakh’s emblem of delicate ecological balance. Using apricots as the medium of her interactive puzzle based storytelling, Anuja Dasgupta, a Ladakhi agri-preneur who co-founded Ladakh Orchards, will take you on a trip to Ladakh;

  3. The journey of milk from rural hinterlands to Delhi’s markets, revealing the interconnected labour, ecology, and infrastructure that sustain it. Using spatial mapping and video ethnography, Vedant Patil, a PhD candidate at Shiv Nadar University will help you assimilate how ecological systems & political economies shape life.

  4. and 6 more themes which we'd like you to discover at Bikaner House!

II. A sharp dialogue on agri-innovations x adaptation finance among the above artists bringing a variety of perspectives from the most affected parts of India and Subhadeep Sanyal, India Lead at Wavemaker Impact & ex-Partner at Omnivore, who brings 15+ years of experience financing the agro-economy of India.
