About Event

Are you a young person interested in becoming a trustee but unsure how to get started? Join us for an engaging session delivered by Board Racial Diversity UK in partnership with Young Trustees Movement, exploring how young people can access trustee opportunities, build their confidence and make their voices heard in the boardroom. We will also focus on why these roles are so important.

Whether you're considering your first trustee role, looking to develop your leadership skills or wondering how your experiences and perspectives could contribute to a charity's board, this session will help you understand what's involved and how to take that next step.

The session will explore:

  • How and where to find trustee opportunities targeted for you

  • How to showcase your skills, experiences and potential, even if you haven't served on a board before

  • Understanding the role and expectations of a trustee

  • Building confidence in your role - how to contribute your perspective and make your voice heard

Speakers:

  • Theresa Ogbekhiulu, School Governor Cefn Hengoed School & Non Executive Director Swim Wales Young Trustees Movement Representative

  • Tito Molokwu, Administrative Lead Office of Angela Rayner MP, Previous General Secretary LSE Students’ Union

  • Henry Hughes, Trustee Board Racial Diversity UK, Co Chair iWill Movement

  • Taj Donville-Outerbridge, Youth Development Liaison at The Government of Bermuda, Co-Chair International LGBTQI Youth & Student Organisation

This webinar is part of our Ask A Trustee series, a monthly programme where Black and Asian trustees from across the UK share their experiences, insights and advice with aspiring trustees. Each session is designed to support you in applying for, securing and thriving in trustee positions.
