Where is bacteriophage research heading in Kenya and across Africa? Join scientists and specialists exploring phage biology, research capacity and emerging applications in agriculture and human health.
This is Day 2 of the Slovenia–Kenya Phage Summit at Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi. The conference brings together Kenyan, Slovenian and international researchers for invited talks, scientific presentations and discussion.

About the Slovenia–Kenya Phage Summit
The summit takes place on 6-7 October 2026 at Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi. It brings together Kenyan, Slovenian and international experts to explore bacteriophage research and its responsible application in human health, animal health and agriculture.
The Summit is organised by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Addis Ababa, the International Centre for Promotion of Enterprises (ICPE), JT Business Development (JTBD), with Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) serving as the principal Kenyan co-organiser and host institution.
Slovenia–Kenya Phage Stakeholder Symposium, held on the first day of the summit, brings together key Kenyan and international institutions, including the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB), Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Africa CDC, KEMRI/WRAIR-Africa, International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), CABI, JAFRAL, and other relevant clinical, research, regulatory and public-health institutions.
On the second day of the summit, the Phage Science Conference focuses on the scientific programme, organised in collaboration with the Kenya Institute of Primate Research (KIPRE) and Phages for Global Health, together with participating Kenyan and Slovenian research and academic institutions.
