Tastes Like Home: Custom Flavored Butter & Sourdough Bread Workshop
How do you define the taste of home? Is it the warm sweetness of vanilla and cinnamon, the garden-green freshness of herbs, the pungent comfort of garlic and onions, the technicolor palette of peppers and spices, or something else entirely?
Join us for an evening exploring how smell, taste, and memory shape our sense of home. We'll guide you through a spread of fresh herbs, spices, and seasonings, noticing the memories and feelings they evoke. Then, you'll sketch out the flavors that feel like home to you. You'll be invited to share in a group circle, if it feels comfortable to you.
We'll bring that feeling to life through two homey staples: bread and butter. You'll blend your chosen flavors into 2 blocks of your own Custom Flavored Butter to taste on fresh sourdough and take home.
To close the evening, we'll demystify the reality of home bread baking. I've baked sourdough (nearly) every weekend for seven years and some form of bread nearly my whole life. I'll walk you through the key steps of a high-hydration sourdough loaf: how to care for your starter, what to look for during the process, and how to fit baking into the realities of your schedule. FAQ
Can I receive a refund for my ticket?
We use RSVPs to plan for the number of attendees and ticket pricing to cover our hosting costs. Ticket prices include platform and processing fees that are not refundable. If you need to cancel your ticket, please reach out to us by 11/7/26. We're happy to provide refunds, less the platform and processing fees.
Unfortunately, we cannot grant refunds for cancellations less than 48 hours in advance, but you are welcome to pass your ticket on to someone else. Please reach out to us at least 48 hours before the event with any questions or to transfer your ticket to a friend.
Kits are prepared in advance and must be ordered by 11/6/26. Kits are non-refundable and available for pickup at the event. We can't ship kits, but with advance notice, we can arrange pickup for another day.
If we need to cancel or reschedule the workshop, you'll receive a full refund or a transfer to a future date.
How do you handle allergies and food safety?
Our workshop includes wheat and dairy. Please note any allergies when you register. We'll be working with many fragrant herbs and spices, so if you're highly sensitive to scents, this may not be the right workshop for you. We prepare everything in a shared space and can't guarantee an allergen-free environment.
Your butter is made with fresh herbs and dairy. Refrigerate it within 2 hours, and enjoy it within 1 week or freeze it. Garlic and fresh aromatics shorten shelf life. Bring an ice pack or insulated bag if you have a long trip home.
