This time:
Wardley Mapping by Henning Grote

Most strategy work fails not because teams lack ideas, but because they can’t see the landscape they’re operating in. Decisions get made on gut feeling, assumptions stay invisible, and everyone pictures a different map in their head.

Wardley Mapping changes that. It’s a visual method for making strategy explicit — showing what you’re building, how the parts depend on each other, and how mature each component is. Once the terrain is visible, better decisions follow almost naturally.

In this hands-on session, Henning Grote introduces the fundamentals of Wardley Mapping and guides participants through building their first maps. Instead of abstract theory, you’ll work on concrete examples and leave with a method you can apply directly to your own products, teams, and strategic challenges.

What you’ll practice

🔹 Understanding the core concepts behind Wardley Mapping

🔹 Capturing user needs and the value chain that serves them

🔹 Positioning components along the evolution axis

🔹 Reading a map to spot strategic options and risks

🔹 Translating map insights into concrete decisions

Play Rules 🎲

✅ Try, Fail, Share: This is a hands-on format—don’t just watch. Try out methods, make mistakes, and share what you learn. That’s where the value lies.
✅ Show Up or Miss Out: If you sign up but don’t show up without telling us, we might not allow future participation.
✅ Got a Method? Let Us Know: If you know a great method others should try, tell us—we’re happy to include it in a future session.

Hosted by Johannes Schweig & Michael Martens as part of the ininin interactive workshop series.
