About Event

A candid discussion & workshop on intentional brand building. Presented by ISNA Canada's Media Team.

About the event

In a time where everyone is encouraged to "build in public" and share their work online, Muslims need to ask a deeper question:

How do we build a public presence without losing sight of our intention, character and responsibility?

Pillars Network is partnering with ISNA Canada for a blended workshop that brings together Islamic reflections and hands-on personal branding session designed for Muslim students, professionals, creatives, founders and community builders who want to share their work with sincerity, clarity and purpose.

The event will conclude right before Dhuhr, allowing attendees to pray together in congregation.

Coffee and matcha will also be available for purchase through ISNA's Youth Hub.

About the speakers

Shaykh Usman Qamar was born and raised in Cambridge, Ontario. He began his Quranic studies while in high school and finished memorization of the Quran when he was 16. He spent the following seven years in the UK and South Africa studying traditional Islamic sciences. He has completed a double major in psychology and philosophy at the University of Waterloo. He serves as religious educator at ISNA Canada, alongside having founded Wijhah Initiative, a not-for-profit organization that facilitates social and spiritual events that are welcoming, meaningful, and nurturing and foster a sense of community for young adults and youth.

Ramy Sadek a marketing professional with extensive experience in the non-profit sector, bringing over nine years of expertise in communications, marketing, and community engagement.

Ali Gilani is a filmmaker based in the Greater Toronto Area and a Creative Director at ISNA Canada. He makes documentaries about the Canadian Muslim experience — the histories, communities, and lives that don't often make it to the screen. His work includes The Missing Dates, The Muslim Pioneers, and a current feature on Quebec's Bill 21, The Quiet Exile. He's been making films for about a decade, including earlier work with Islamic Relief, and cares about telling these stories with patience and without the usual sentiment.
