Film Photography 101: An Introduction to Shooting Film
This beginner-friendly workshop is designed for anyone who's ever wanted to pick up a film camera and experience the art of shooting analog.
Over the course of this session, we'll cover everything you need to confidently shoot on a roll of film. Together, we'll cover all the basics of film photography, from understanding every part of how a camera works to loading the film and taking a photo.
Whether you've inherited an old camera, picked one up at a thrift store, or are simply looking to start brand new, this workshop is the perfect place for you.
What we'll cover:
How film cameras work
The exposure triangle: aperture, shutter speed, and ISO
Different film formats (35mm, medium format, and instant film)
Loading and unloading a roll of film
Metering light and exposing correctly
Focusing techniques and composition
Common beginner mistakes and how to avoid them
Where to develop and scan your film
Caring for your camera and storing film
By the end of the workshop, you'll leave with a solid understanding of film photography fundamentals, practical experience handling a film camera, and the confidence to shoot your own roll from start to finish.
No prior photography experience is necessary, just curiosity and a willingness to learn. Cameras are encouraged, please reach out to us beforehand if you need to borrow one.
