About Event

Salon Maxivive is an intimate weekly event where food, stories, and fashion come together to create a community that embodies the essence of Maxivive. Guests enjoy Nigerian Jollof rice prepared by host Papa Oyeyemi, alongside presentations from artists, designers, and other creatives, all designed to spark meaningful conversations and connections.

This edition (Season 1, Episode 3) focuses on two of Jan Hoek's drawings, The Revenge of the Children Part 1 and 2, which explore cartoonized stories of individuals who experienced sexual abuse during adolescence. This salon is part of the "Wearable Memories" initiative, supported by AFK, Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunst. "Wearable Memories" aims to shed light on childhood sexual abuse by sharing real stories from survivors and perpetrators, encouraging others to share their experiences.

Jan Hoek is a Dutch curator, photographer, and artist based in Amsterdam. His work is drawn to the beauty of outsiders worldwide, and he often collaborates intensively with people who are typically overlooked, creating new and powerful images together.
