First Look LA, presented by MultiHyph Media
First Look LA is an intimate day at the intersection of storytelling, film and capital.
We start with the bigger picture, which is how investing works and how people put capital to work across alternative asset classes. Then we go deeper into film. You’ll learn how projects are financed, how deals are structured, and what experienced investors and buyers look for.
From there, you’ll meet three filmmakers who have contributed to major productions and are now developing their own work. We’ll screen their short films and talk with them about the stories they’re building, why they believe these stories will resonate, and how they’re thinking about the market.
We close with an industry conversation and a gathering hosted by MultiHyph Media to celebrate its launch, with time for real connection.
First Look LA is produced by tech founders and angel investors Kameale C. Terry and Evette Ellis, in partnership with London Lewis of MultiHyph Media and Eric McCarthy of Immoderata.

10:15 AM Investing in Alternative Asset Classes with Eric McCarthy, Managing Principal at Immoderata
Stocks and bonds are only part of the picture. Eric breaks down alternative investments like private equity and private credit, including opportunities to invest in assets like film. He’ll cover how to gain access, how to think about risk, and how to decide whether alternatives belong in your portfolio.
11:15 AM The Equity Blueprint, How Films Make Money with London Lewis, Founder of MultiHyph Media
Where does your investment go, and when can you expect to get paid back? Drawing on deals she worked on, including American Fiction, Fair Play and The Blackening, London walks through the life of a film from financing to recoupment.
