Dissecting the Buzz: Case Studies in AI
Dissecting the Buzz is a workshop series focused on getting you to think about and reason through real problems that have come up with organizations shipping AI powered applications.
We want to share the knowledge and experience of teams who have shipped so we can all reap the rewards of their hard work (and their mistakes 😉)
Format
Instead of the typical three-talk meetup, we will present a problem faced by a real team while they were shipping to production.
We won’t say how they solved it - instead, we’ll form breakout groups and you’ll get to wrangle with the problem for a bit. We’ll be there to help you in case you get stuck in some honey!
After a bit of thinking, groups will get to present their solution, tradeoffs, and other considerations. Finally, we’ll present how the problem was actually solved in practice.
You’ll come away with a better understanding of the engineering, product, and organizational tradeoffs that need to be made when shipping AI powered systems.
To make sure you’re fresh, we’ve chosen to do the event in the morning. We’ll provide some ~~nectar~~ coffee to get you going 🐝
Agenda
The event timeline is as follows:
9:30-10am: show up, grab some coffee, hang out
10:00-10:15am: introductions, present the problem for the session
10:15-11:15am: breakout groups, wrangle the problem
11:15-11:45am: short presentations from groups about solutions
11:45-12pm: “actual solution” presentation, wrap up
Location
We'll meet at the Coco Cafe at 9:30am. We can hang out there until just before 10am, at which point we'll be heading into the main CIC building. We'll be doing the workshop in the Cotton meeting room on the first floor.
Since you need a keycard to get in, please come before 10am so we can head there together. If you come after, you'll need to send me an email (hernando@biene.club), or talk to someone at the front desk to let you in.
