🥋 WHAT TO EXPECT
• Beginner-friendly Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
• Practical self-defence skills
• No previous experience required
• A relaxed, queer community environment
• Absolutely no need to already be “fit” or know what you're doing
This is an introductory session. We’ll take things step by step and give you a chance to learn some of the basic movements, positions and principles used in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and practical self-defence.
🖤 MEET YOUR COACH
The session will be led by Julio Vinke of 413 Team, a second-degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, multiple national champion and coach with more than a decade of experience.
Julio coaches BJJ in Amsterdam and Almere and works with everyone from complete beginners stepping onto the mats for the first time to experienced competitors.
His approach focuses on strong fundamentals and creating a welcoming, no-ego training environment where people can learn at their own pace.
Julio was also one of the coaches at the very first Inclusive Combat: BJJ & Self-Defence Day in July 2024, so we’re very happy to have him back on the mats with us. 🥋🖤
You can find Julio and his regular classes at 413team.com.
🫶 YOUR COMFORT COMES FIRST
You never have to do a technique or drill that you’re uncomfortable with.
You can sit something out, ask questions, take a break or stop at any time. Train at your own pace.
There is no expectation that you already know how to fight, grapple, exercise or move in a particular way. The goal is to give you a safe introduction to the sport and let you explore what works for you.
👕 WHAT TO WEAR
Wear comfortable, close-fitting clothes that you can move around in.
A T-shirt with shorts, leggings or other athletic clothing is completely fine.
Sandals or Flip Flops to walk around when you're not on the mats.
No special BJJ equipment or uniform is required. The training is done barefoot.
Try to avoid clothing with zips, buckles or anything sharp that could catch on another person while grappling.
🧼 BEFORE TRAINING
Please:
• Come in clean training clothes
• Trim your fingernails and toenails
• Remove jewellery before stepping onto the mats
• Keep shoes off the training area
If you’re feeling unwell or have a contagious skin condition, please sit this one out and join us next time. 💚
⏰ ARRIVAL
Please aim to arrive 10–15 minutes early.
This gives us enough time to check everyone in, get settled, go over a few basic training rules and start together at 14:00.
💧 WHAT TO BRING
• Water
• A towel and sandals or flip flops
• Comfortable training clothes
• Whatever energy you’re bringing that day :)
