Virtual Council | Kindred Members
About the event:
Come meet other Kindred members and share stories in a virtual Council event hosted by Jake Sheinman, a fellow Kindred member and trained Council facilitator.
What is Council?
Council is a listening and storytelling practice that allows communities to come together, get to know one another, and build trust. It typically takes place while sitting in a circle and is often compared to being around a campfire, something we've been doing for thousands of years.
The practice is led by a facilitator who offers prompts to the group and participants agree to speak one at a time, sharing their personal stories and experiences - listening non-judgmentally while others do the same.
It’s a light-hearted, but dedicated space that allows us to share stories and recognize that despite our many differences, we have much in common.
✨ For this one in particular, we’ll tell stories about our homes and the cities where we live. For example: we may go around in the circle and all answer the prompt: “Tell a story about a day you’ve experienced in your city that you’ll never forget and why was it so memorable?” ✨

Meet your host:
Hi 👋, I’m Jake. I’m originally from Bergen County, NJ (just outside NYC) but I currently live in a small bungalow a few blocks off the beach in Santa Monica, CA. I’ve spent the last couple of years working in advertising and growth marketing, most recently at Snapchat where I was first introduced to Council as a practice. When I’m not traveling, I’m home working on never-ending DIY projects, practicing yoga, or riding my bike in the mountains.
