About Event

In many government classrooms, a single teacher manages hundreds of students across multiple learning levels simultaneously, sometimes leading to struggling students being left behind. But what happens when we empower students to lead and support one another?

In this webinar, Involve Learning will share midterm results from a massive RCT on peer tutoring across 177 government schools in rural Bihar. By adding just 40 minutes of student-led peer teaching three times a week, the intervention generated 61% more learning growth and +0.16 standard deviation increase in math performance for both peer learners and their tutors. This is equivalent to six months of additional learning, at nearly zero extra cost. The model has also scaled to 350 schools and nearly 25,000 students in its second year.

Moving beyond the numbers, the team will examine the interplay of individual and collective agency in the classroom, specifically exploring:

  • How Peer Teaching and peer networks intersect to create a psychologically safe environment,

  • How this shift in classroom environment and learning networks creates durable effects that might outperform traditional remedial tutoring.

  • Lessons from implementing a cost-effective intervention and RCT in a complex geography.

These insights are especially relevant for education practitioners, policymakers, and funders interested in scalable, evidence-based learning models.

The 60-minute session will feature a presentation from the Involve team, followed by an audience Q&A.
