Tourism data, insight and the opportunity of AI
This workshop will create a shared space that explores how AI can be used as a practical and responsible tool to analyse tourism data and inform better decisions.
With recent shifts in Australia’s tourism data landscape, including Tourism Research Australia’s Domestic Tourism Statistics (DoTs), this session invites participants to reflect on what information can meaningfully improve planning, investment and destination development outcomes.
The workshop will be shaped by DataVoyage, drawing on perspectives from across the tourism and public sector ecosystem. DataVoyage will share a proof-of-concept to ground the conversation, participants will then explore how AI can further support good tourism insights in practice, and how ethical design, human judgement and collaboration strengthen the public value of tourism data.
DataVoyage’s mission is to give all destinations, regardless of size, access to clear, local, data-driven intelligence. The team combines trusted government datasets with AI-supported analysis to deliver actionable insights on visitation patterns and destination development, supporting better decision-making across tourism, communities and government.
AI CoLab events are intentionally open and collaborative. For this session we may capture photos to share publicly. This is done in line with the Charter’s values; transparent, ethical innovation and knowledge sharing to accelerate collective learning (see join.aicolab.org). By participating in this event, you agree to being photographed and for those images to be shared in accordance with this policy.
