​Oceans are vital ecosystems that support a vast range of biodiversity and provide critical services to human societies, including climate regulation, food security, and livelihoods. However, escalating marine pollution particularly from plastic is a growing threat to ocean biodiversity. A large proportion of this waste originates from land-based sources, directly linked to inadequate waste management systems and unsustainable production and consumption patterns.
