About Event

Shelly Chen is a Product Designer at Meta specializing in craft, prototyping, and XR. With 5+ years of experience across multiple teams spanning Messenger, Instagram, and VR Discovery, she brings a unique perspective on embodied design, prototyping, and building products people trust and love.

In Shelly's talk Craft as Play in Spatial Computing, she'll explore how designers work in XR, turning embodied craft into a repeatable practice and the mindset of “craft as play”. She'll introduce a practical rubric for Safety, Usability, and Delight; share lightweight prototyping patterns to make decisions you can feel; and present you with some thought experiments to stretch your design thinking. Students will leave with a screenshot‑ready checklist, a decision‑first approach to prototyping, and language to articulate craft in critique and portfolios.

Lunch will be served.
