Understanding the False Alarm Cycle

This training provides mental health and behavioral health providers with a practical framework for understanding how anxiety can become self-reinforcing. Participants will explore the False Alarm Cycle and learn how triggers, anxious thoughts, physical sensations, emotions, avoidance, reassurance seeking, and safety behaviors can interact to maintain anxiety.

Using real-world clinical examples, providers will learn how to recognize anxiety patterns and apply practical, CBT-informed strategies including cognitive reframing, coping skills, and gradual approach behaviors. The training emphasizes helping clients respond differently to anxiety rather than relying on avoidance or waiting for anxiety to disappear.

The presentation is designed for LCSWs, LPCs, LMFTs, psychologists, school counselors, BHTs, and other behavioral health professionals working with children, adolescents, or adults experiencing anxiety-related concerns.
